Sinusitis is a condition consisting of infection or inflammation of the sinuses, which may or may not be as a result of infection, from bacterial, fungal, viral, allergic or autoimmune issues. There are 2 main types of sinusitis, namely acute sinusitis and chronic sinusitis. If you have read my other lens on Chronic Sinusitis Symptoms you will know that sinusitis and a normal cold shares a lot of common symptoms, like nasal congestion, runny nose, fever, headache, facial pain etc. The difference between acute and chronic sinusitis is by the duration of infection, and not by the severe level of infection. Acute sinusitis symptoms normally will get improved within 10 days to 3 weeks, while chronic sinusitis might last for life time if you don't seek for any treatment.
